“Malibu is very excited and looking forward to hosting the WWA Malibu Factory Smoky Mountain Pro right here at our world headquarters on the beautiful Tennessee River,” said Malibu Boats CEO Jack Springer. “The opportunity to bring the top riders to our factory to compete behind Malibu’s M235 will be a truly amazing start to the Evolution Pro Series. It is also very exciting to be able to offer our hometown and all of the tremendous Malibu associates who build our great boats the opportunity to watch the Smoky Mountain Pro live and in person. We can’t wait to watch all of the action go down alongside our families, friends and fellow wakeboarding enthusiasts.”
This family-friendly event features the world’s elite professional Men and Women wakeboard athletes on the waters of Watts Bar Lake with the ability to watch the action by boat or on shore. The on-shore event venue at Malibu’s world headquarters will have free activities for all ages including autograph signings, inflatables, face painting, caricatures, and free ice cream for children under 12. The WWA Malibu Factory Smoky Mountain Pro will be towed exclusively behind the Malibu’s world-class M235 towboat.
“It is a privilege to have the opportunity to take the Malibu Evolution Pro Series to the home of the entire Malibu Boats family. We look forward to showcasing wakeboarding's elite athletes to the very people that work each day to build the product at the center of our incredible boating lifestyle,” said WWA President Shannon Starling.
The WWA Wakeboard World Series rankings currently stand at a 55 point spread among the top seven riders coming into stop number four. Going down in the early rounds at the WWA Malibu Factory Smoky Mountain Pro could be a major season upset in the overall WBWS title race with just four events remaining on the schedule.
